Google Ads is an online advertising program used to promote your business, help sell products or services, raise awareness, and increase traffic to your website.
The Google Ads Integration requires FoneDynamics Call Tracking product to capture Google Ads generated web session information, so please ensure FoneDynamics Call Tracking is setup when implementing the Google Ads Integration.
Our new integration with Google Ads uses the Google Ads API to push Clicks to match against conversions, more information on this can be found here:
- https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/conversions/upload-clicks
- https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/conversions/overview
Before you start, to use click conversions you must enable auto-tagging with your Ads Account so that the Google Click ID (GCLID) can be used to push conversion back into AdWords. To see how to check if auto-tagging is enabled please click here.
The first step is done in your Google Ads account, you must create a conversion measurement, Google has a guide here, but steps are also provided below.
Click on 'Goals', and under Summary click 'Create conversion action'.
On the next section, click "Import" > "CRMs, files or other data sources" > "Track conversions from clicks" > "Skip this step and set up a data source later" > "Continue".
Next, select "Contact" or "Converted lead" as the conversion goal and the name of your conversion.
The settings on this next page are up to you but take note of the Conversion Name, this conversion name is to be input on the Reporting on Conversions in Adwords (Optional) section of the guide.
Click "Save and Continue".
You have now created your conversion. Once you click "Done", have your Customer and Conversion Action ID at hand, you will need them while configuring the integration in our platform.
To make sure you have the correct Conversion Action ID, go inside the conversion and check the URL for the number after "ctld".
Note: Failing to add the correct Conversion Action ID will result in an error when you action the integration.
Also, with a new conversion you need to wait around 6 hours for Google Ads to process it.
Otherwise, it will give you another error.

Recipe Overview:
Here is an overview of the Google Ads Recipe that you will see
Breakdown of the Recipe steps:
1.- Trigger
It initiates the recipe actions, follows in-sequence delivery, maintains processed job records, prevents duplicate processing, and ensures job completion in order.
By default, the trigger is already configured, but you can tweak the options if you like
ACTIONS
Every recipe contains a set of actions, which dictates the nature and the steps the integration is going to follow.
2.- Call Query
Select the step 2 node to define the Resource Level which determines the extent to which information will be pulled out from the queries.
Then use the dropdown menu from the right hand pane to select the Resource level
From the dropdown menu the choices available are Account, Property & Single Call
Property level will extract all call conversions for the specified property & is generally sufficient for most clients needs, but if you have multiple properties on a single account & wish to consolidate the data, Account may be preferential
Now head down & select step 7, the Google Ads node, & from the right-hand pane you will need to enter the values for the following fields:
- CustomerID (without space or '-' , Example: 1234567891 )
- Conversion Action ID
